File Preparation

Prepare your document in your chosen layout application (Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress)

Create single page PDFs for each individual page. Each file sould be named according to it's folio. File preparation guides can be found here for magazine and here for book.

Preflight with InSite

Upload your PDFs to InSite. InSite "refines" the PDFs, and during this process a preflight report is created.

Did your PDFs pass Preflight?

Yes

Successful Preflight ⇒

No

Preflight Errors and Warnings

When building a document in your layout application it is important to make sure it is prepared correctly. Here is a check list of items to review before creating your final PDFs.

If you have made sure the above are accurate to your desired outcome, the next step is to open the page in Smart Review, then open the Preflight Manager

Review the information in the Preflight Manager dialo box. Pay extra attention to any Warnings or Errors and the information listed next to them.

Is the page acceptable "as is" with the known Warnings and Errors?

Note: By approving any page you are giving express consent that the page matches your desired intent and is approved for printing.

Page Correction

If you do not want to replace the page, contact your TSR/TSA for investigation.

If you want to replace the page, first reject the page on InSite.

Then, make your corrections to the original document and creat a "revised" PDF. Guidelines for file submission can be found here for magazine and here for book.

Successful Preflight

Make sure to open the page in Smart Review. Evaluate the page and ensure it matches the desired intent.

If the Smart Review proof does not match the desired intent, be sure to contact your TSR/TSA for investigation.

If everything looks correct, approve the page. Note: By approving any page you are giving express consent that the page matches your desired intent and is approved for printing.
